The job description for a County Commissioner is extensive, including Budgeting, Land Use & Planning, Public Safety, Human & Economic Health, Infrastructure, and much, much more. Our three Commissioners also work closely with our seven other County Elected Officials to make sure that your County runs like a well-oiled machine.
Our Commissioners are tasked with managing over $486 million of your money, including both external and internal revenues. Over the past decade, I have a proven track record of working with the budgets of the Fort Collins Board of REALTORS, in 6+ years on their Board of Directors, and of a couple of Homeowner’s Associations for well over a decade, to ensure their solvency for the future. I have the financial foresight to administer your money wisely.
Another role of the Board of County Commissioners is to be the final decision makers pertaining to Land Use Issues. Through my combined 11 years as a volunteer on both the Larimer County Planning Commission (I’m the current Chair) and the Red Feather Lakes Planning Area Committee, I have worked on new codes, regulations, as well as our monthly hearings on Land Use Applications. We have also adopted many new County Master Plans, including Transportation, Fairgrounds, Parks, Open Lands, and the Mountain Resiliency Plan, which is the first of two steps towards a new Comprehensive County Master Plan.
I would encourage you to go to the County Website to watch past Planning Commission Hearings, to get an idea of what we do: http://legacy.larimer.org/news/video/
12 years of leadership roles at both the Local and State REALTOR Associations, as well as the negotiation skills I’ve refined in my years in Real Estate, will enable me to be able to work with all of our County Staff and Elected Officials to continue Larimer County’s trek to excellence. This is a critical role of the County Commissioners, as working in harmony with all of the departments of Larimer County government is essential to our success.
I have spent hundreds of hours, over 2 years, studying the duties of being a Larimer County Commissioner, figuring out that I have the skills, knowledge, and aptitude to perform the job. I continue to meet with elected officials and other community leaders to find out if they feel I have the ability to be an effective Commissioner. I have asked every person I’ve met with to please tell me, honestly, if they have any reservations about my abilities. To a one, they all respond favorably.
As I learn more about the various duties of the Board of County Commissioners, I believe that my volunteering and working experiences have prepared me well for this job. I am ready to put my financial knowledge, my ability to mediate, and my leadership skills to work for you as your next Larimer County Commissioner for District 1!
I want to thank each and every one of you for perusing my website today. Larimer County is a spectacular place to live, work, and play, and I am proud to be able to be a citizen here. I am honored that you support me in my campaign to serve as your next Larimer County Commissioner.
